The Apple iPhone 12 has been one of the most awaited smartphones of 2020, and it surely does not disappoint. Having used this marvel of technology for a few weeks now, I am impressed with its powerful performance, aesthetic design, and innovative features, thriving on Apple’s commitment to quality and user experience.

The first thing you notice when you get your hands on an iPhone 12 is its right-sized 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display. The screen is bright, crisp, and colorful, providing a superb view from all angles. I immediately noticed the significant improvements in the HDR videos, as they look incredibly vibrant and full of life. The Ceramic Shield screen provides added protection, enhancing the phone’s durability.

As for the design, iPhone 12 opts for a flat-edged aluminum frame design, reminiscent of the iPhone 4, but with a more modern and refined look. The back is made of glass, giving the phone a premium feel. I appreciate the slightly thinner, lighter, and smaller disposition as compared to its predecessor, making it easier to carry around and handle. I also love the iPhone 12’s color options – I went with the Pacific Blue, and it’s just stunning.

To talk about performance, Apple’s A14 Bionic chip powers the iPhone 12, providing faster processing and efficient power management. No matter how demanding the task, be it multitasking, playing graphically-intensive games, or running high-performance apps, the iPhone 12 handles it smoothly.

The camera quality is exceptional. The dual 12MP camera system brings Night mode to all cameras, enabling great low-light shots. The front-facing camera also now supports Night mode and does a stellar job with selfies and video calls. Enhanced computational photography features like Deep Fusion and Smart HDR 3 really make a noticeable difference in image quality.

A noteworthy advancement is the introduction of 5G technology, promising high-speed downloads and uploads, smoother streaming, and more reliable video conferencing. The addition of the new MagSafe accessory system is also a smart move, allowing users to attach all sorts of accessories to the back of their iPhones magnetically.

However, some areas could be improved. The removal of the power adapter and EarPods from the box feels incomplete, considering the premium price you pay for this device. Plus, although the battery life is adequate, it would be more impressive to see a significant improvement compared to the previous versions.

In my opinion, the iPhone 12 strikes a lovely balance between overall features and cost. It includes significant upgrades from the previous models, making it worth considering, especially for those using an older iPhone. Despite minor disappointments, the iPhone 12’s thoughtful design, impressive display, groundbreaking performance, and excellent camera system deserve applaud, hence the 4.5 out of 5 stars.
