Rating: 4.5/5
Apple AirPods Pro, when compared to their predecessor and arguably their fiercest competition, definitely bring some standout features to the table. They assert themselves in the market with high-quality audio, effective noise cancellation, comfortable and secure fit and seamless integration with other Apple devices, offering an overall best-in-class experience.
AirPods Pro offers an outstanding sound experience with their Adaptive EQ, which automatically tunes music to the shape of your ear. They come with custom-built high dynamic range amplifiers and high-performance drivers that optimize sound quality and eliminate background noise. Their transparency mode allows you to hear your surroundings clearly, which improves safety when walking or running outside. The excellent sound quality they deliver stands as a key reason behind my rating.
Possibly their most significant feature, the noise cancellation on these earbuds is truly impressive. With two microphones combined with advanced software to adapt to each ear and headphone fit, they block out background noise and give a quiet and immersive listening experience. If you commute often or work in noisy environments, the noise cancellation feature of the AirPods Pro will be the number one reason to upgrade.
From a design perspective, Apple has done really well with the AirPods Pro. They have a more compact design than the previous model and come with three different sizes of silicone tips to fit everyone’s ears. The addition of the vent system to equalize pressure makes them comfortable to wear throughout the day, taking their usability a notch higher.
As for the battery life, AirPods Pro offers a fair 4.5 hours of listening time with a single charge with noise cancellation enabled and about 24 hours with the charging case. Though there are earbuds on the market offering better battery life, the charging case compensates for the stand-alone endurance of the earbuds.
The integration with Siri is handy, allowing you to access the virtual assistant hands-free, which is a boon while working out or in other circumstances where you can’t use your phone directly. However, the functional restrictions with non-Apple devices can be bothersome for some users.
A drawback does lie in their hefty price tag when compared to other wireless earbuds on the market. But for the array of features and outstanding performance they deliver, one might justify shrugging off the price concern.
Summarizing, Apple AirPods Pro boasts some of the best features any true wireless earbuds can offer, ranging from high-quality audio, notable active noise cancellation, a highly comfortable design, and superior seamless compatibility with the Apple ecosystem. It is a worthwhile investment for both Apple loyalists and newcomers; however, the price might be a stumbling block for some.
I give the Apple AirPods Pro a rating of 4.5 out of 5. For the overall offering, they convincingly stand among the top-of-the-line true wireless earbuds on the market today. The half-point deduction is primarily due to the comparatively high price point and battery life, which could be enhanced.
