Rating: 4.5/5
The Apple iPhone 11 is undoubtedly among the best smartphones in the market today. It’s excellently designed, super powerful, and holds its own against its high-end siblings, the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. With a rating of 4.5 out of 5, the iPhone 11 offers robust performance and a solid range of features for a mid-range price, making it an ideal phone for most people.
Firstly, let’s talk about design. The iPhone 11 continues Apple’s tradition of making beautiful phones, boasting a glass body that pairs sleek aesthetics with sturdy durability. It comes in six colours: Purple, Yellow, Green, Black, White and Red. One of the phone’s strengths is its IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, providing substantial protection for everyday mishaps.
Under the hood, the device is powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic chip, which boosts performance and efficiency. Combined with iOS 13, it provides an impressively smooth user experience, whether surfboarding on the internet, flipping through apps, or playing demanding games.
A key standout of the iPhone 11 is its camera system. It features a dual 12 MP ultra-wide and wide camera setup. The Night Mode is a game-changer, which remarkably improves low-light photography. Another admirable feature is the QuickTake video where you can record videos without switching out of the photo mode. Also, the front camera, now upgraded to a 12 MP sensor, can shoot 4K videos and take slow-motion selfies, or ‘slofies’ as Apple amusingly labelled it.
Battery life is another area in which iPhone 11 shines. With a single full charge, it reliably lasts the whole day even with hefty usage. It also supports fast charging – however, the fast charger is not included in the box, and that is a slight letdown.
In terms of storage, the base model starts at 64GB, but 128GB and 256GB options are also available if you need more space. However, there is no expandable storage option, which doesn’t seem to be a considerable issue considering Apple’s efficient iCloud service.
Several enhancements could be made, though. The biggest missing piece is probably the absence of a 5G model, which could be an issue as 5G begins to become more widespread. Furthermore, the phone’s Liquid Retina HD display, with a resolution of just over 720p, falls short of the sharper displays offered by some competitors.
However, the way the iPhone 11 smartly cuts the right corners to bring the price down without hugely impacting on the overall user experience is impressive. Considering the slick design, impressive camera, robust performance, and good battery life, the iPhone 11 offers fantastic value for its price.
The iPhone 11 isn’t perfect, but it offers the best mix of speed, screen size, price, and features, making it an easy recommendation for most phone buyers.
