The Apple iPhone 13 Pro is the company’s flagship device, boasting upgrades in several areas over its predecessor.
Design-wise, not much has changed. However, the ‘notch’ has been noticeably reduced, giving a broader display area. The device comes in several colors, including gold, graphite, silver, and the new sierra blue, allowing for personal choice. The ceramic shield front cover, touted as tougher than any other smartphone glass, offers added durability.
Apple’s promotion of the iPhone 13 Pro’s Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion for a fast refreshing rate of 120Hz is not in vain. The smoother animations and more responsive touch input are noticeable immediately, especially during gaming or content scrolling. At 800 nits of maximum outdoor brightness and 1200 nits in HDR, the phone enhances viewing experience.
Among the most compelling upgrades of the iPhone 13 Pro is the A15 Bionic chip, making the phone incredibly fast and efficient. With 5-core GPU, the device provides superior performance for graphics-intensive tasks and games.
As for the camera, the system has seen significant improvement. The triple-lens rear camera features a 77mm Telephoto camera, enabling 3x optical zoom in on subjects. The new Night mode captures stunning low-light shots across all the cameras. However, the feature that has garnered a lot of attention is the Cinematic Mode, which brings depth-of-field and automatic focus changes to video, mimicking the look of professional films.
The battery life of the iPhone 13 Pro also deserves mention. Apple claims it has the longest battery life ever on an iPhone, with up to 75 hours audio playback from a full charge. In practice, the phone easily lasts a full day’s heavy use, which is impressive.
As for storage, for the first time, iPhone comes with up to 1TB capacity, catering to users who need extensive space.
However, it’s not all perfect. The device is slightly heavier than the iPhone 12 Pro, which could bother some users. Furthermore, despite its high price, the phone does not come with accessories like a power adapter or EarPods.
Overall, the iPhone 13 Pro presents itself as an impressive phone with commendable upgrades, particularly in the display, performance, camera, and battery departments. The high price may be a deterrent for some, but for anyone looking for a high-end smartphone that delivers in terms of performance, and the camera, the iPhone 13 Pro is tough to beat, hence a rating of 4.5 out of 5.
